The Story

Pryor Baird joined the Freakin' Deacons, coming on as a guitar player in 2001, Founded by bassist Robert Chetwood in 1999. One night the band's front man was a no show and Pryor had to step up. The rest is history. The band slid from being a harmonica driven style of Blues to the brass laden, fat-hollow, gut wrenching Blues group, Pryor Baird and the Deacons.

Pryor Baird & The Deacons stem from California's central coast, playing original as well as traditional Blues, Roots, and Americana. Pryor Baird fronts for the group, with powerful yet delicate guitar work. Nimble fingers aren't his only asset. Pryor is becoming very well known for his burning slide melodies and solid vocals. The man on the down beat is none other than Louie Broussard, drummer extraordinaire. Whether it's laying it back slow or driving it through the roof Louie has got it nailed. Rounding out the rhythm section is bassist Robert "Dirty Bertie" Chetwood. Holding down the bottom with sonic prowess "Dirty Bertie" is a key component to the Deacon's prized fat-hollow-sound, a trade mark these cats are known for. and don't forget the man that goes everywhere with us and makes this all happen from setting up to, letting you hear what we should sound like without concern, Scotty Strahl!!
